Polygon dataset depicting potential areas of Significant Groundwater Recharge (SGRA) for the Mississippi-Rideau Source Protection Region. Developed according to the Ontario Ministry of the Environment method II: where annual groundwater infiltration is greater that 55% of the average water surplus value. Further refined for areas > 25ha, and combined with esker locations, and for where the Nepean Formation outcrops at surface.
Dataset created for the groundwater component of the Mississippi-Rideau Source Protection Region, as being completed by Intera Engineering Ltd.
Vulnerability scoring was also assigned to the final SGRA dataset, based on the intrinsic vulnerability of the underlying aquifer. From the Provincial technical rules, where aquifer vulnerability is HIGH, vulnerability = 6; aquifer vulnerability is MEDIUM, vulnerability = 4; aquifer vulnerability is LOW, vulnerability = 2.

Set cell values to null where they are less than or equal to 55% the mean water surplus value, otherwise maintain the cell value. This selects only cells where infiltration is greater than 55% of the mean water surplus. Conversion of output raster to polygon format.
